Professional Conductor, Orchestrator and Teacher, Alex Pope, is Founder of the Showcase Music School in Hampshire. The school provide accessible and inclusive music making opportunities and services to over 25 schools. They are one of the most inclusive and accessible providers of free access to out-of-school ensembles including the Showcase Young Voices Choirs in Southampton.
Alex is Musical Director of UK Drumming Troop, Another Dimension and the Showcase Young Players and Showcase Philharmagic Orchestras and has conducted many shows in Musical Theatre including Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Doctor Dolittle, Hairspray, High School Musical. Alex has played percussion in many others including Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast & Miss Saigon.
In 2017, Alex conducted the Southampton Celebration Proms for Rees Leisure at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre and has arranged many large-scale concert performances. His passion is to ensure there are opportunities for young people to perform and share their musical achievements with their families in as many inclusive ways as possible.
Alex has facilitated unforgettable experiences for hundreds young people to perform in special events at famous venues including the O2 Arena in London, Southampton’s O2 Guildhall, Nuffield & Mayflower Theatres. This extends worldwide including tours to France, Barcelona and most recently a tour to Paris where he led 41 superstar singers and musicians in shows at Disneyland Paris and the iconic shopping complex, the Val d’Europe. His next adventure takes him to New York to perform 3 shows with his drumming troop, Another Dimension.
Alex produced and created the Hampshire Festival of Remembrance on Sunday 11th November 2018 (100 years to the day since World War 1 ended). He collaborated closely with the Royal British Legion to bring over 300 performers and veterans to the beautiful Mayflower Theatre stage. The event raised nearly £17,000 in aid of the Royal British Legion.
Alex has a passion for creative design and production design and is able to put together large events and entertainment packages. He is responsible for all of the large scale events showcase host every year and also all of the graphic design and digital branding you see with every showcase adventure.
In 2012, Her Majesty the Queen invited Alex to her Diamond Jubilee Royal Garden Party in recognition for the several concerts he has organised that have brought children together to raise money for charity through the power of music.
